A suspense-filled race right down to the final few metres.
"Four people, one team, no mercy" was the programme slogan again at the 6th RISE&FALL event in Mayrhofen on 16th December 2017.
Athletes, who surpassed themselves against the stunning mountainous backdrop of Mayrhofen; a fabulous crowd of spectators that tirelessly encouraged and cheered their athletes on - are just some of the defining features of the legendary RISE&FALL.
This unique relay race with the four disciplines of ski touring, paragliding, mountain biking and ski or snowboard has already achieved cult status amongst athletes and audiences.
The crowds of spectators were able to celebrate a deserved winner at the end:
Team " Mountainshop Hörhager 1 powered by Tiroler Kola" with Philipp Götch (ski touring), Patric Hörhager (paraglider), Jochen Käß (mountain bike) and Roman Rohrmoser (ski) triumphed in a suspense-filled race.
With a finishing time of 39.19,0 they forced Team "die praxis professional", 39.26,2 into the runner's up position, followed hot on the heels by Team "Gh Zimmereben & Brück’n Stadl 1", who finished third with a time of 40.41,6.

This relay event is a race against time and opposing teams: one team consists of 4 athletes. The athletes must each surmount 430 metres in elevation in their respective discipline.
STARTS: on 16.12.2017 at 13 hrs.
START AND FINISH AREA: Base terminal of Ahornbahn cable car in Mayrhofen.
ORDER OF EVENTS: Ski tourers start at the race finish area – race up the Ahorn downhill run to Gasthof Wiesenhof – changeover to the paragliders– who fly in a predetermined flight corridor and land in the target area as accurately as possible – changeover to the mountain bikers – who ride up to Wiesenhof – final changeover to the skiers - who ski the Ahorn downhill run to the finish area.
DISCIPLINE DISTANCES: Ski touring, 1.7 km – 430 metres in altitude, Paraglide 3.2 km – 430 metres in altitude, Mountain Bike 3.7 km – 430 metres in altitude, Ski 1.7 km – 430 metres in altitude.
WINNER: The team whose skier or snowboarder crosses the finishing line first wins RISE&FALL 2017.

RISE&FALL - a race against the clock
4x430 altitude metres of intense struggle and challenges lay before the athletes of the 80 teams competing in RISE&FALL. This awesome sporting event which kicks off the winter season in Mayrhofen on the 16th December 2017, pushes the competitors to their limits. We find out from the athletes themselves exactly how they prepare to compete in their chosen discipline. The hard training doesn’t begin in Autumn, but requires endurance and fighting spirit throughout the whole year!
